MPM - The genetic solution to MULESING

The MPM Studs are situated in three states of Australia (To view profiles on each of the studs click on the MPM Studs tab on the menu to the left of the screen). With the growing network of commercial breeders in six states of Australia and equating to approximately 800,000 breeding ewes. So come and join the positivity of the MPM Network.

MPM is a group of like minded breeders who meet annually to discuss ideas, swap information and set policy for the future.

As legend horse trainer Colin Hayes said "The future belongs to those who plan for it", those words ring true to the MPM organization. We have been busy over the last six years establishing a sheep that will give our breeders a sustainable future.

The MPM organization is also very lucky to have a sister group in South America, who are now breeding MPM sheep in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and neighboring country, The Falkland Islands.

Multi Purpose Merinos provides your genetic solution to the mulesing debate. MPM consists of 10 ram breeders from right across Australia providing commercial breeders with high quality genetics that will, along with our tailored MPM breeding plan, allow Merino breeders in Australia to put an end to the practice of mulesing. MPM currently supplies 150 commercial members across Australia, a high percentage of whom have already stopped mulesing, with some not having mulesing since 2004.

The MPM methodology enables us to deliver predictable and consistent genetics that will put you, the commercial breeder, in the best possible position when mulesing is no longer a viable option for your business. The MPM sheep are a stand alone breed of merino, outperforming the competition. Don’t be scared, they work!

We are confident in backing the MPM genetics to deliver a desirable result in the first cross. MPM genetics will perform equal to, if not better when it comes to profit driven production with a micron range of 17 to 21, fleece weights of 5 to 8 kg, above average wool length for merinos, high fertility of 95%+ to ewes joined and excellent growth rates which are well above industry averages for merinos (Sheep Genetics).
